Icynene's Chemical CompositionBy admin
Wednesday, 15 May 2019Icynene was first developed in Canada in the 1980’s, an era defined by punk, piercings and shoulder pads a standard. Nostalgia aside, Icynene’s popularity has continued to grow across the globe, as it surges ahead in the sustainability stakes, improving the thermal-efficiency of over 50% of homes in North America.
As more and more people become aware of the manifold benefits inherent in Icynene, this spray foam superstar has developed a subcontractor network which sprawls across more than 30 different countries and over 15 different installer companies in the UK alone.
Home Logic on Grand Designs
Undoubtedly, its recent TV plaudits on popular prime time programmes go some way to explaining its mainstream popularity, earning Icynene a reputation as something of an inspirational innovator in the field of insulation.
Indeed, our very own Home Logic installers experienced their own five minutes of fame last year, as we were the chosen Icynene installers for a quirky treehouse project featured on ‘Grand Designs.’
Icynene’s superlative eco-credentials don’t end there. Most Icynene spray foam insulations are completely water blown which helps contribute towards the environment
The Composition of Icynene
Icynene’s superlative eco-credentials don’t end there. Most Icynene spray foam insulations are completely water blown which helps contribute towards the environment.
Icynene is the only form of spray foam insulation on the market to have achieved BBA, ETA and IAB certifications, and has been successfully tested and certified for applications directly to the underside of breathable and non-breathable roof membranes, having received BBA approved certification for this specific application.
Unlike Icynene, which never loses its shape, fibreglass has been known to sag and settle over time, impairing the overall effectiveness of your property in the long-term
How Icynene Benefits Your Home
Icynene Provides Premium Protection Against Pests
Uninvited house guests are never welcome at the best of times, particularly if they’re of the scuttling or scurrying variety. The carnage wreaked by pesky critters should not be underestimated, in many instances resulting in a critical cross-contamination of surfaces.
As a result, any small particles or traces from rodent saliva, droppings or even nesting materials can makes you sick, as well as exacerbating any existing allergies.
Unlike fibreglass and cellulose, which prove tantalisingly tasty to rodents, Icynene’s chemical composition does not make it an attractive meal ticket for pests, and it doesn’t provide potential nesting grounds either.
In addition, Icynene also contains no airborne chemicals once settled, making for a healthier home environment that you can unwind in, without compromising your wellbeing in the process.

Icynene Boasts Unrivalled Longevity
Compared to fibreglass insulation which can cause several irritating side effects for installers, Icynene is a non-irritant. Fibreglass also doesn’t even come close to matching up to Icynene’s enhanced flexibility.

Icynene Is An Eco-Friendly Insulation Material
Although our sprayers are fully suited and booted there are no toxic VOC’s present in the air after the settling period has commenced. Extensive studies have shown that after 30 days any airborne particles cause by the water blown spraying procedure of Icynene have completely dissipated.
As a safety precaution we advise casing any wiring with conduit to allow further access after the Icynene has been applied. This also eliminates any performance alteration to the wiring
Icynene Works Safely Around Existing Wiring
Icynene has been developed to no affect the performance of electrical cabling and can be sprayed over it. The only exception is from shower or kitchen wiring which has a higher amperage and is more prone to overheating.

Icynene Can Also Be Used For Commercial Projects
Icynene helps to create more energy-efficient commercial buildings as well. Whether you are an architect seeking out insulation for an innovative project, or the owner of a new start-up company looking to consolidate your company’s eco-credentials, investing in Icynene spray foam insulation for your business makes sound financial sense.
Energy costs account for the most major outlay for employers, so ensuring you take every measure possible to help your office retain heat is essential.
Investing in Icynene for your commercial project means that you make significant savings on your company energy bills over time; savings that can be reinvested into the company, instead of being eaten up by the eye-wateringly high electricity costs associated with running a high-powered office.
