Insulating Old House Exterior Walls

If you live in a dated property or an older home, you are probably paying a lot of money to keep yourself warm during the Winter.

You may also notice that you have condensation issues within your home, despite the house feeling warm inside. This may be because your home is built with solid brick walls instead of cavity walls, as most buildings built before the 1920s are.

Even cavity walls can experience a loss of thermal quality if the internal gap is subjected to moisture.  Fortunately there is an effective way of combating this problem-insulating the outside of a house!

This practice is called external wall insulation, which is sometimes shortened to EWI. This is a method of insulating our houses so that they retain internal heat and combat moisture absorption.

Revolutionary Home Logic Wall Insulation

Home Logic Wall Insulation leaves your masonry completely dry and water-absorbent free. This is because wetter materials transfer heat a lot faster than dry materials.

The material is also dirt and debris resistant, as dirt particles struggle to gain hold of your brickwork. The dirt simply washes away with rainwater, leaving your facade clean and attractive.

Applying Home Logic Wall Insulation to the outside of your home will improve thermal resistance and prevent any frost damage during the cold winter months.

The protective layer is available in a wide range of colours and texture choices so that you can develop an exterior style to suit your specific tastes. So now you can stylise both the inside and outside of your home!

The cream-like material also reduces the growth of microbial spores, and is resistant to biological hazards and mould.

We then perform a set of preparation techniques to ensure the surfaces are ready for application. This includes algae treatment, crack repair, rendering and bagging. The latter involves the application of an SBR/UniBond Bag Coat for exceptional stabilisation and adhesive qualities.

An Easy and Efficient Process

Here at Home Logic, we follow a very simple yet very effective, 10 step process for every exterior insulation job we undertake.

You can find out more about that in detail here. But in essence, the process begins with a free site survey and an inspection of your property. This identifies any particular problem areas before the power washing stage begins.

At this phase, the areas to be coated are power washed at very high pressure to remove as much accumulated dirt as possible.

We then perform a set of preparation techniques to ensure the surfaces are ready for application. This includes algae treatment, crack repair, rendering and bagging. The latter involves the application of an SBR/UniBond Bag Coat for exceptional stabilisation and adhesive qualities.

To finish off the preparation work, we apply masking tape and heavy-duty paper across anything that is not to be sprayed with insulation material. Following this, we lay down dustsheets, and apply a layer of primer coat before installing your protective exterior wall coating.

Don’t worry about us leaving a big mess-all of our installers pay meticulous attention to detail and will always leave your home just as they found it!

Cleaning up is the last step in our ten-step process and completes our end-to-end service. All masking tape and protective sheltering equipment will be removed professionally and quickly, causing no disruption to your home throughout the entire application process.
