Spray Foam Roofing Problems: All You Need To KnowBy admin
Thursday, 8 November 2018
The newest insulation product on the market is spray foam insulation, which despite being popular for decades elsewhere in the world, is only just beginning to gain popularity here in the UK.
As a more complex material than standard insulation rolls or panels, its installation is more difficult, and should only be entrusted to the most experienced and qualified of spray foam technicians.
Avoid spray foam roofing problems by opting for the best possible workmanship and advice you can. We advise how to do so right here…
Avoid Spray Foam Roofing Problems: Only Hire Accredited Technicians
There’s no need to be intimidated by the installation of a more complex insulation system – after all, it’s considerably more effective. But, it’s important that you make an educated decision in who to hire, and how to go about purchase should you decide to press ahead with this project.
Spray foam insulation is a 100% water-blown industrial spray, that expands to fill space around it. The spray is a mixture comprising of 50% polyurethane, and 50% water, which is blended in equal parts using specialist equipment.
Whilst other insulation products such as fibreglass do require breathing masks and industrial work gloves to be used to protect the installer, spray foam insulation requires even more safety.
In order to make sure that the mixture is properly combined in equal parts, and sprayed equally, only accredited technicians should be used.
Our talented team of specialist spray foam insulation technicians hold full BBA (British Board of Agrement) certification, the UKAS standard for the construction and home improvement industry as a whole.
Avoid Spray Foam Roofing Problems: Choose The Best Possible Product
Several older spray foam insulation products contain high levels of chemicals that can ‘off-gas’ and enter into the area around them.
Formaldehyde is present, but vigorous third-party testing has shown there to be no risk of off-gassing (even during the initial curing period after spray application), and that all traces of the chemicals were well below accepted safety standards.
After 30-days from application, it was difficult for even specialist air monitoring equipment to detect a trace.
Needless to say, Spray foam insulation is the safest chemical foam insulation product on the market.
Of course, it’s easy to read up on a company’s website about how fantastic their service is: but it’s best to seek the opinions of those who have first-hand experience with the company and product in question!
Avoid Spray Foam Roofing Problems: Select Trusted Traders
Whilst hiring specialist technicians is key, you also want to ensure that whoever enters your home to install insulation is willing to leave the property in exactly the same condition as they found it.
Our talented team of spray foam insulation technicians are recommended by consumer champion website Which? as Trusted Traders. This stipulates that the technicians must adhere to a professional code of conduct, which includes:
- Remain approachable and open to questions and enquiries at all points of the job
- Only carry out work for which they are fully equipped and qualified
- Strictly stick to agreed budgets and timelines
- Clean up after themselves, protect the property, and leave the property in the condition in which it was found.

Here at Home Logic, we hold a 9.4 out of 10 rating on independent review website TrustPilot. Such reviews include:
“It is almost impossible to find fault with this company. The whole process was as in the video and what a difference the insulation has made! The fitter was only happy if I was, and hard work was the name of his game. Not only was he intelligent, caring and thoroughly professional, he was capable, resourceful and patiently willing to explain each step. The phone calls from the company and the fitter were always courteous and to the point. If you are unsure I urge you to go for it – you will be pleased.”
“We were very pleased with the installation. The fitters were very polite and worked hard. Our loft is only part boarded, full of years of junk and lots of fibre glass insulation. They managed to move everything around and clear out the fibre glass. The new foam looks fine to us. They did a very good job leaving the hall, stairs and landing very clean; plus they got on well with our dog!”
“A first-class product installed by first class operatives, they were prompt, well mannered, very clean and obviously knew their job. I would not hesitate to recommend this type of insulation and Home Logic to anybody.”
