External Wall Insulation

When cold air and moisture passes through from external walls, it can have a tangible, negative impact on the internal space inside.

There are lots of basic masonry paints and coverings on the market, but if you’re looking for external wall insulation details and information on the best possible product, you’re in the right place!

So without further ado, here’s our definitive guide to weatherproofing your exterior walls, and saving yourself, hassle, heartache and your hardearned cash into the bargain. Let’s begin!

Home Logic Wall Insulation: What Does It Offer?

Home Logic External Wall Insulation is not just a masonry paint that covers and colours brickwork, in the hope of blocking out some thermal flow like others available.

Instead, it provides an invisible and odourless insulating barrier that prevents air flow and moisture from penetrating into the porous exterior walls of your home.

How Does It Work?

Bricks and concrete look like impenetrable surfaces, but they’re not. Whilst the materials should not and will not absorb moisture, they do to a degree.

When an external masonry wall is wet, it becomes a thermal bridge, passing its cold and moisture through to the interior walls within the property. Studies have shown that a wall’s thermal properties can be compromised by up to 50%, with just 5% damp capacity within it.

To avoid this, Home Logic External Wall Insulation is a chemical mixture sprayed onto exterior walls. Taking advantage of the porous surface, the insulating mixture penetrates up to 17mm into the wall, forming a protective barrier, that lasts for over 20-years.

The barrier created by Home Logic External Wall Insulation blocks out moisture and water from passing through, as well as keeping out dirt, oil, sand and airborne pollutants that can stick to the wall, and clog up the small pores within it.

Does It Affect the Overall Aesthetics?

Absolutely not! Home Logic External Wall Insulation is invisible, and you won’t be able to feel or smell it, either.

This isn’t like traditional masonry paint, that covers and colours your home’s façade, but instead retains your original aesthetics, and protects them against the elements, for years to come.

How Does It Perform in Practice?

Home Logic External Wall Insulation has been tested by third party accreditors, in line with the EN ISO 15148:2002 best practice industry standards.

These tests demonstrated that Home Logic External Wall Insulation blocks 95% of all moisture from soaking into treated surfaces.

The hydrothermal performance improvement was proven on surfaces including: brick, mortar, sandstone and concrete.

How Is Wall Insulation Applied?

In order to ensure the chemicals within Home Logic External Wall Insulation can perform to the best of their ability, all surfaces to be treated should be thoroughly cleaned, and properly irrigated, before application.

All surfaces to be treated are washed with an industrial pressure washer to remove dirt and moss, and any areas infested with algae or mould are treated with fungicide to prevent re-occurrence. Cracks in the walls are ground down, filled and sealed, and any problem areas of render can be repaired or replaced.

A priming coat is applied to the surfaces, before the chemical itself is sprayed, and any features not to be covered (i.e. windows, doors, gutters, chimneys) will be masked to protect them.

What About Professional Accreditation?

Only technicians accredited by the British Board of Agrement should apply Home Logic External Wall Insulation and be trusted to work with the chemicals involved.

Home Logic’s own teams are fully BBA certified and recommended as Which? Trusted Traders.
