Will My Landscaping Be Protected During Installation?By admin
Wednesday, 18 December 2019
The right driveway design will enhance the exterior of your home, increasing that ever-important curb-appeal and helping you to create a house that you’re proud of returning to every day.
With a beautiful driveway, you’re getting a home improvement that is wonderfully practical and very visually appealing, but that should never have to come at the cost of the rest of your landscaping being destroyed during the installation process.
For some homeowners, the answer to the question, ‘will my landscape be protected during installation?’, is almost a deal-breaker. If you’ve been wondering the same, then read on…
Protecting Your Garden: An Installation Essential
Whether or not your existing landscape will be protected during driveway installation comes down to one key thing - the installers.
No matter what landscaping design that you have, or what landscaping ideas that you’re hoping to implement after your driveway has been installed, the big deciding factor that will determine the state of your garden after installation is just who is involved in the installation process.
If you choose the right company to install your driveway, then they will treat your landscaping with the utmost respect and do everything they can to keep construction upheaval to a minimum.
However, a different company may take the easy route, which could mean more landscaping damage than you might expect.
Of course, there are always some instances where every element of a landscape can’t be protected.
If there are trees that threaten to destroy your new driveway then it may be recommended that they be removed. In cases where access is required in certain areas of your garden, suggestions may be made to make the process easier.
Before you have a new driveway installed, it’s worth speaking to the driveway installers you’ve chosen to get a general idea of how your landscaping will be treated and what you should expect from the process.
Once the dirt and debris has been removed, the ground can be prepared, and the sub-base can be added, along with the base course. With careful installers, this stage shouldn’t damage your landscape
What’s Involved in the Installation Process?
Depending on the driveway material that you choose, the installation process will differ. This can have an impact on your overall landscaping, as it will determine what will be required to complete the job.
For resin bound driveways, as the main part of construction is performed by hand, the disruption is kept to a minimum. With the right installer your landscape will be protected as best as possible.
Here are the main stages of resin driveway installation, so you know just what to expect:
Excavating the Area – The step has some potential to damage your landscape, mainly because of the extent of excavation work required to create a strong driveway sub-base. However, with he right installers, excavation will be handled carefully to keep your garden intact.
Ground Preparation and Laying the Sub-Base – Once the dirt and debris has been removed, the ground can be prepared, and the sub-base can be added, along with the base course. With careful installers, this stage shouldn’t damage your landscape.
Laying the Resin - The final stage involves adding the resin mixture to the top of the sub-base; this is a mixture of clear resin and your chosen aggregate. A professional installer will lay the resin by hand with a trowel, so you won’t need to worry about heavy machinery being dragged through your garden.

They covered our hall and stair carpets with protective sheeting. We are unable to advise as yet of the benefits regarding reducing heating bills as the winter as not quite arrived. We are hoping to see a reduction as explained and advertised.Would highly recommend Icynene and Home Logic.’Related Home Logic Living Articles
